Dueling Vegas Big Wheels

The High Roller at Linq
In a city that loves to prove that bigger is always better, there's plenty of room for two gigantic observation wheels.  At least developers seem to think so.

Some time ago the SkyVue project was started, and is now to the point where footings for the wheel are already under construction.  That wheel will stand an impressive 500 feet tall across the street from the Mandalay Bay resort, in what is currently undeveloped property.  Developers are quick to point out that all planes entering and leaving Vegas will look at the SkyVue, and photos taken of the famous Las Vegas sign will have the wheel in the background.

Caesar's has also embarked on a massive project in between the Imperial Palace and Flamingo hotels, called The Linq.  The outdoor area will be filled with shopping, dining, and nightlife - big surprise for Vegas, right?  Well anyway, at the end of the new corridor will be the High Roller, the world's tallest observation wheel at 550 feet.

Party it up in there!
Yes, the High Roller will be a mere fifty feet taller than SkyVue, but it'll also open later than it.  With SkyVue set to open next Summer, the High Roller wont come online until the end of next year.  Developers just received a necessary permit to build the gigantic observation wheel, which has parts being fabricated for it across the globe.

For more on The Linq, check out this post from Vegas Chatter.  I can't wait to see what it will cost to take the half hour trip around either of the wheels... remember everything is bigger in Vegas!
